WHY CNG?
There are two types of CNG powered vehicles Dedicated and Bi-Fuel (Duel-Fuel)
Dedicated -vehicles or conversions run solely on CNG.
Bi- Fuel -vehicles have the ability to run on either CNG or the vehicles original fuel source and a Bi-fuel retrofit usually costs less than a dedicated fuel system. Nearly any gas or diesel vehicle can be converted to a bi- fuel vehicle.

Driving a NGV (Natural Gas Vehicle) will provide you with many Advantages. The Table below Explains the Advantages and Disadvantages.

ADVANTAGES:

-
Lowest Cost Fuel - In Utah CNG is hovering around $1.60 a GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) If your car gets 30 mpg on gasoline you will still get about the same 30 mpg on GGE of natural gas at a much lower cost. That is like going from 30 mpg to 90 mpg if you are spending 1/3 the cost for gas. In many areas the cost of natural gas is regulated keeping the price low.
-
Domestic Fuel - Not dependent on foreign oil and their constant price increases. You will save even more in the future as gasoline continues to rise faster than natural gas.

-
Environmentally Friendly - Fewer emissions as hydrocarbons are virtually eliminated.

-
Engine Runs Cleaner and Last Longer -CNG is the cleanest burning hydrocarbon available. Because CNG burns so clean, your engines internal internal workings won't have the usual carbon build-up that gasoline or diesels have creating less Friction and Engine Wear.

-
Ignition (Spark) Plugs Stay Cleaner and Last Longer - No carbon deposits to clog and dirty the spark plugs.

-
Fewer Oil Changes - Carbon deposits which dirty the engines oil are eliminated.

-
Engine Runs Quieter - Less engine noise due to the higher octane of natural gas.

-
Bi-Fuel - A Bi- Fuel Vehicle has the ability to run on either CNG or gasoline/diesel with the simple push of a button. These conversions leave your original fuel sytem intact and add the CNG fuel sytem.
-
Diesel Power Gain- With a diesel engine CNG is mixed with diesel fuel resulting in a significant power gain. This makes it easier to pull heavy loads and can contribute to overall fuel efficiency.
DISADVANTAGES:
-
Reduced Performance -Because CNG is more resistant to burn than gasoline, gasoline engine performance is sometimes reduced by approximately 5% to 10%. If a power loss is felt while on CNG, a duel fuel system can easily be switched to gasoline for as long as full power is needed.
-
Storage Space for Storage Tank - The CNG tank will need to be installed in the trunk of most cars, in the truck bed of most trucks, or behind the back seat of an SUV. A medium sized tank is 16" in diameter and 36" long and weighs about 150 lb. In most cases the weight of the tank is offset by the reduced weight of the near empty gasoline fuel tank. Gasoline weighs about 8.5 lb per gallon, so 17 gallons of gas is equal in weight to a 150 lb tank.
-
Filling Station Availability - Some areas of the United States have few or no filling Stations. However, in Utah CNG filling station are going in all over the State and become more and more common place.

-
Check Engine Light On – In some cases, the Check Engine Light might come on. This is normal, Because the engine will tend to run leaner in newer model vehicles in the CNG mode, and may turn on the light, but it will operate normally.

MORE REASONS TO CHOOSE NATURAL GAS:

It's Increasingly Available:
There are more than 1,100 NGV fueling stations in the U.S.—and about half of them are open to the public. California has the nation's most extensive natural gas fueling infrastructure. Now we are building America's Natural Gas Highway with LNG and CNG fueling stations at strategic locations along major trucking corridors to form the backbone of a national transportation fueling infrastructure. Many of the stations will be located at Pilot– Flying J Travel Centers already serving truckers across the country.
It Serves All Sectors:
NGVs serve more users than any other alternative fuel vehicle. In the United States, about 30 different manufacturers produce 100 models of light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles and engines.
It's Safe:
Lighter-than-air compressed natural gas is nontoxic and disperses quickly. It has a higher ignition temperature than gasoline and diesel fuel, which reduces the chances of accidental ignition.

It Reduces Noise:
Natural gas engines can reduce noise by as much as 50% compared to diesel engines.

It Can Be Renewable:
Renewable natural gas—also known as bio-methane or bio-gas is a model alternative fuel. Produced from animal and crop waste and sewage, it delivers benefits throughout the fuel cycle.
In Utah:
Currently a $2500 Clean Fuel Tax Credit is being offered for vehicles converted in 2014
